Technical translations for the industrial sector

A vital element of technical translations for the industrial sector — or industrial translations — is speed.

In the industrial sector, progress moves at a remarkable pace and technology must always remain at the cutting edge.

For our customers to compete on the global stage, we must provide translations that are not only accurate, but also fast and on time, keeping up with the speed of industrial progress.

Timely industrial translations can make all the difference when it comes to technical innovations, tenders, mergers and acquisitions.

We provide industrial translations meeting the most pressing needs and deadlines, while guaranteeing the highest quality standards.

Whether you need to translate technical manuals, safety data sheets or software, we have competent mother-tongue translators specialised in your field and familiar with your specific technical terminology.

Moreover, in an extremely competitive market, rationalising costs while still achieving high quality standards is key to standing out from the competition. This is why our solutions are flexible and tailored to each project. Our Project Managers have the experience to advise you on the most suitable service for your needs and on optimising costs.

Our method for technical translations

Specialised expertise

The quality and accuracy of our technical translations spring from a careful selection of linguists and our experience in managing such projects. In addition to using the correct specialist terminology, it’s important for technical translations to be culture-specific. This is why all our translators are native speakers, live in the country of the target language, and have a thorough understanding of its culture. We rely on a broad network of specialised technical and industrial professionals to support you in the delicate task of communicating and adapting your product to the global market.

Technical terminology

Technical jargon is virtually a language unto itself and has its own specific terminology. If your documentation contains specific technical terms, it’s important that these be translated accurately and consistently across all your projects. Terminology management is the use of terminology according to a clear set of rules.

Our technical translators create terminology glossaries while translating, extract your approved technical terminology from previously translated documents, and create termbases (databases ensuring terminology management with computer-assisted translation [CAT] tools).

Translation memories are also a guarantee of terminological consistency during the translation process. Translated sentences and text strings are stored in these memories, and are automatically re-used by CAT tools in subsequent translation projects. Translation memories are set up by customer and by language combination. They offer the dual benefit of a speedier translation process and increased cost-effectiveness for the client, the latter as a result of applying a discount to repeated terms.

Quality Control

Translation Quality Assurance(TQA) is a comprehensive process designed to ensure a high level of quality in technical translations. It consists in hiring, training and managing qualified personnel (translators, specialists, project managers) and acquiring specific tools (hardware and software) in line with the standards set by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) . Under our certified TQA, technical translations are evaluated with scorecards, which we then study to resolve and, often, prevent the main types of errors. We conduct Quality Assessments in which translators and reviewers meet to focus on critical issues and possible areas for improvement.

Formatting and graphics

Most technical translations are not destined to remain textual documents but take on a new form, such as a manual, safety data sheet, catalogue or website. Our desktop publishing (DTP) team takes the translated text and inserts it into the necessary print or digital layout, handling aspects such as special characters, different alphabets and text size. Our experienced graphic designers also handle images, tables and graphical elements, which play a key role in technical documentation. Our customers therefore receive a document that is complete and reay for use, without the need for further time-consuming steps and checks.
